Privacy
Last updated 31 August 2026.
Slime Soccer Online is a football game about two semicircles, run by one person as a hobby. There are no adverts, no analytics and no tracking, and nothing is sold to anybody. This page says exactly what is stored and why, because “we value your privacy” is not information.
If you never claim a name
Nothing about you is stored on the server at all. Playing on this device — against the computer, or a friend on one keyboard — happens entirely inside your browser. Your control bindings are saved on your own device and are never sent anywhere.
If you claim a name
Claiming a name creates a player record on the server. It holds:
- the name you chose and the kit you picked;
- a random player id, and a secret token that proves the name is yours — the nearest thing here to a password;
- your Elo rating, your peak rating, and how many matches you have played, won and lost;
- goals scored and conceded;
- when the account was created, and when it was last used.
There is no email address, no password, no date of birth, no phone number, and no real name unless you type one into the name box. Please don’t — a nickname is the point.
Matches and replays
An online match that finishes with a goal is recorded as a replay. A replay is not a video. It is a list of which keys were pressed on which tick, which the game runs back through the same physics to reproduce the match. It is stored alongside both players’ names, kits and ids, the score, the stage and the date.
If you post a goal to the highlights, the clip and the votes it receives are stored too. A vote records which player id cast it, so that nobody votes twice. Each week’s winners are archived, so a past week’s result cannot be changed afterwards.
Your name, kit, rating and posted goals are public — that is what a ladder and a Goal of the Week board are. Assume anything you put in your name is visible to everyone.
Stored on your own device
In your browser’s local storage, not on the server:
slime-soccer-online:player— your player id and token, so you stay signed in;slime-soccer-online:binds— your control bindings.
There are no cookies, which is why there is no cookie banner. Installing the game adds an offline copy of the app’s own files; clearing site data removes all of it.
Other people’s services
Two things on the page come from elsewhere, and each sees your IP address, because that is how loading a file from another server works:
- Google Fonts serves the three typefaces.
- Buy Me a Coffee provides the tip button. If you click it and decide to send something, the payment happens entirely on their site under their own privacy policy. No payment details ever reach this game.
The hosting provider keeps ordinary server logs, including IP addresses, for a short period, to keep the service running and to deal with abuse. The game itself does not log or store your IP address.
Discord
The game links to a Discord server. Discord is a separate company with its own privacy policy and its own minimum age, and joining it is entirely optional — nothing in the game requires it and your player record is not connected to your Discord account. What you post there is governed by Discord, not by this page.
How long it is kept
Player records are kept while the account is in use. Replays are capped at the most recent few hundred and older ones are deleted automatically, except where a posted highlight still points at one.
Getting rid of it
The Forget me button in the Your slime card deletes your player record and signs you out. Your name goes back into the pool for anyone to take.
Replays of matches you played may survive a little longer, because the other player was in them too, but they age out on the normal schedule. If you want a particular replay or posted goal removed sooner, or a copy of what is held about you, email privacy@slimesoccer.co.uk.
Children
This is a cartoon football game and children may well play it. That is fine, and it is one reason the game asks for so little: no email, no age, no tracking, no adverts, and no way to send a message to another player. Nicknames are screened automatically. If you are a parent and want an account removed, use Forget me, or email privacy@slimesoccer.co.uk.
Your rights
If you are in the UK or the EU you have the right to see what is held about you, correct it, have it deleted, or complain to a regulator — in the UK, the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. The lawful basis for holding a player record is legitimate interest: a fair ladder needs a stable identity behind each name.
Changes
If what is stored changes, this page changes with it, and the date at the top moves.
Contact
Slime Soccer Online is run by Rauhl, who is the data controller for the purposes of UK GDPR. To ask what is held about you, to have something corrected or deleted, or to raise anything at all on this page:
Requests about your own data are answered within one month, which is the statutory limit. Most of them are quicker than that, because Forget me in the Your slime card does the job instantly and without asking anybody.
That address is for privacy and data questions only. Anything else has its own: feedback@slimesoccer.co.uk for ideas and requests, and help@slimesoccer.co.uk for something broken.
